Pixurethis Media was founded by Helena Yago in 2012 with a vision rooted in storytelling, culture, and community voice. With a bachelor’s degree in film from Wayne State University, Helena built the company as a creative platform dedicated to capturing real people, real experiences, and authentic narratives. What began as a media venture grounded in visual storytelling has grown into a purpose-driven company focused on preserving history and amplifying voices that matter.
Today, Pixurethis Media specializes in legacy video production, creating cinematic recordings that preserve personal stories, family histories, and lived experiences for future generations. These legacy videos are designed to capture more than moments; they preserve voice, presence, and truth in a way that can be revisited and passed down over time. Alongside this work, Pixurethis Media produces community-centered podcasts, including 313 Frequency and HPCIA, that highlight conversations on culture, politics, and community life, particularly in Detroit and Highland Park.
Through both legacy storytelling and community media, Pixurethis Media operates with a dual purpose: to honor the past while engaging the present. Under Helena Yago’s leadership, the company continues to grow as a platform that documents real stories, fosters dialogue, and creates a lasting record of the voices of people and communities that deserve to be heard.
